The following list is broken into two groups: Organizations and Individuals. These websites offer a wealth of information on science, media, law, personal growth and just about everything else--including great poetry and books. Some are Libertarian, others are not. Some are people who smoke, some are not. In other words, there is a world of people opposing smoking bans from all walks of life, political inclinations, faiths and, well, just everybody really. Bear in mind that, even if we restricted ourselves to smokers, then we would still be talking about cigarette smokers, pipe smokers, cigar smokers, occasional smokers, secret smokers, closet smokers.... Now, add all of those people who do not smoke but have been hurt economically by smoking bans. Now, add the nonsmokers who are Libertarians. Now, add nonsmokers who are tired of the Nanny State that smoking bans usher into the world. Now, add all of the people that I've forgotten to list. We're talking about a HUGE percentage of the population.
If the media or anyone else has you convinced that you're alone and powerless, take a look at what people are really saying Around the World about antismoking! (Thanks go to Spiked Online for gettin' their duffs in gear and putting that together.)
So, no, you are not alone. You have support and can make great friends.
Together, we become The People. And The People shall be heard! - Raven, FORCES Tavern And The People are being heard around the world. The Wisp-ers are growing louder. - WebMistress |

Organizations FORCES International -- pull up a chair at the Tavern and meet lotsa people. (It's okay to smoke in the Tavern!) Also has US state groups like FORCES-Illinois and national groups like FORCES Italiana. See especially their new Multimedia Portal! Forces is "out there" doing things. See Forces assisting with a smoke-in in Illinois (double-click and Forces video to watch it if full screen) or see evidence of Forces' Lynda Farley on the news--she provided the Liberty van, t-shirts that you see on dozens of people and the little American flags people are waving. Lynda has also been very instrumental in staving off various antismoker laws and taxes, saving the economy for both smokers and nonsmokers. You can donate your time, skills OR money. Also, state and national groups should ask about becoming a chapter or branch of Forces! Join the party! Freedom2Choose (covers England, Scotland, N. Ireland, Rep. of Ireland, Wales separately) -- also has a great forum! See this newsreport of a protest but be warned that the ending has an antismoking jibe from the newsreader, which seems to be far more common ever since the tobacco companies stopped advertising. Kinda makes you wonder if the news isn't so unbia$ed as many believe. Great News! F2C now has a video channel! These Brits have talent to spare, offering information in an inviting and warm manner as well as music. Freedom2Choose, affectionately known as F2C, is a hard-working organization; so, please feel free to join or donate using PayPal. C . A . G . E . Happy, Crowded Bar This happy bar with crowd so good, it stood to serve the neighborhood. A meeting place for jovial folk, we drank, we sang, we had a smoke. But antis came outside the door, and made us kneel before the law. To be at ease and smoke within, is now decreed to be a sin. With gleefull taunts the antis shout, this pub is ours so you get out. We victims see no cause for jest, so suffer social house arrest. In shuttered gloom the pub is dead, the antis are not there instead. So closed the pub we loved so well, and laughter is consigned to hell. But wait, in hope there's still a spark, we drag ourselves out from the dark. With flags and drums we march to war, and show them life's worth fighting for. But not with tanks and guns we fight, in truthfull words we find our might. Their lies will fall, their bastions break, from them our freedom we will take. Back to the bar with crowd so good, it stands to serve the neighborhood. A meeting place for jovial folk, we're back again to have a smoke. BIG thank you to Phil Williams, my favorite hard drinkin', hard smokin', working class, party animal! Oh, and poet. All on my Ownfolks am i on my own on here from lands end, to john o groats relieve the stress, of antis' hate fight the nazism of gordon brown let's network folks, build up the force let's hurt this government at the core Many thanks to TraceRace from Freedom2Choose. |
Individuals Why I Voted Against the Statewide Smoking Ban (Thursday, March 1, 2007) by Minnesota State Senator Tom Neuville. Updates were added to his blog at later dates. Le Fumoir (smokeroom) which has a very nice article, "Ŕ la recherche du bon chercheur "(3 practical tools to tell whether a research is honest or biased, even if you don't have a scientific background). American Liberty : Smoking Bans are Killing People in a blog by Edmund Contoski The Smoker Magazine. This is a fabulous site with lots of info, humour, famous smokers, politician voting records and much more. Really creative and stimulating--and empowering! New Additions from Chris B! :-) The Pro-Choice Smoking Doctor! Priceless. Smokers' Rebellion, with a terrific expose on Lucy Page Gaston, an antismoking ringleader from the early twentieth century who founded the Anti-Cigarette League of America in 1899, I Don' Theen' So, Lucy! (Wednesday, March 29, 2006). Catweazel's MySpace--great poetry, too! Tnsmokers's MySpace--great reference for Smoking is Good For You, too! A really cool site from Simbolin--love those awesome image rollovers! A Myspace for SmokingBanStinks Lynda Farley's 3A3W Smokers Rights Great American Smoke IN out weblog. This also has a very nice pice from a Christian perspective! (No shock there as the URL has hosana in the server name! Just look at the homepage!) An open letter to IL politicians from An American Who Loves Freedom (AALF) along with Smokers BOYCOTT ALL Smoking Ban States & Cities. (WOW! nice map on that boycott page; very colorful! A False Martyr? -- a brief analysis of how one woman, dying of lung cancer, was a manufactured martyr for antismokers and spent her last days being convinced of a lie and paraded in the media to further antismoking agenda. (This clearly and concisely shows that the woman could not have gotten cancer from secondhand smoke.) This article comes from Surreality Times, which also gives us An "Epidemic" Of Awakening? . Many individual businesses, notably pubs, are protesting the English ban with non-compliance, risking harassment and legal penalties. For example, The Dog and Partridge, The Swan Hotel and The Dog Inn. There are many more but you always need to investigate places before giving them your patronage. (Unfortunately, the hospitality industry isn't as reliable as it once was. See Marriott for an example of antismoking's money-grubbing hypocrisy. One wonders if the cigar aficionados at the Marriott conference were required to sleep in antismoking rooms or pay hefty fines--kinda makes cigar smokers look like wimps, LOL! Wasn't Bill Clinton a cigar smoker? Thanks to Audrey Silk of NYC CLASH for the heads-up on this matter! More of the insanity of Marriott's policies are at freedom2choose from the rather direct, concise and witty Colin Grainger.) Please see the Smoker Friendly list to find good places as well as less hospitable listings. Places that continue to rank high on our "smoker friendly" list and favor freedom over tyranny deserve our patronage and admiration--and they appear to have good food, atmosphere and service! |
